Up close and personal

1. Upclose and Personal was our theme. How did you develop your ideas for this project and why did you choose your subject?
I thought of good colors that would show emphasis of what I wanted to draw and what colors would be a good contrast. I chose a girl sitting on a swing because I thought with all the cool and neutral colors that can be captured in nature would bring out the girl even more in my drawing. For the girl I picked really bright and warm colors to show emphasis to her and what she was wearing.
2. How did you demonstrate Emphasis in your work?
I picked very cool colors for my background and for the girl I gave her very bright red hair, and a yellow dress to make her really stand out.
3. What medium did you decide to use and why did you choose this medium over the others? Discuss how it enhances your piece.
I used colored pencil, and I think it gives the work a smoother look and helped me really be able to lay the colors on my drawing especially the girls hair, and the highlights in the tree.
We encourage risk taking in art. Risk taking can be as simple as trying a new technique or learning about a new medium to as complex as trying something totally new.
4.. Did you take any risks with this project? Explain.
I think a risk might have been drawing the girl because I am not the best at drawing people and was very worried about messing her up.
5. Of the 5 characteristics of great art (technique, concept, emotion, new, medium) which did you include in your art?

I included technique, medium, and concept in my art piece.

Whats the Point?

 1. What where some of your solutions to What’s the Point?\
Some of my solutions were dots, fish hooks, exclamation points, constallations, and claws.
2. Which solution did you chose and why?
The solution I chose was using multiple exclamation points in a row. I chose this because I thought I would enjoy being able to show contrast on two different kinds of shape and that it would help me become better at drawing value. 3. How did you show contrast in your work?
I showed the value of dark to light in each exclamation point and made the points on the marks really stand out by adding shadows and depth. 4. What medium did you decide to use? Why did you choose this medium over the others?
I decided to use pencils. I decided to use this medium because I like the way that pencil looks more than ink does, I find that I can go as dark as I want when I want with pencil and with ink you just get dark to fast. 5. What techniques did you use to create this work?
I used contor lines, cross hatching, and sqiggles.
